What is EFG International?
EFG International History
EFG International offers a comprehensive range of investment, wealth, and credit solutions to private and institutional clients across the globe.
The company’s journey began in 1980 when the Latsis family acquired Banque de Dépôts in Geneva. This marked the foundation of EFG’s history. Over the following decades, EFG International expanded its presence across Europe, starting with Luxembourg in 1986, London in 1989, and Monaco in 1990.
In 1995, EFG International established an official foothold in Zurich, solidifying its operations in Switzerland. By 1997, the EFG brand was officially launched, unifying its growing international network under a single identity.

Between 1996 and 2000, EFG International extended its reach beyond Europe, opening offices in Miami, Hong Kong, and Singapore. This expansion enabled the firm to tap into key markets in the Americas and Asia-Pacific, reflecting its global aspirations.
In 2005, EFG International went public with a listing on the SIX Swiss Exchange, strengthening its capital base to support further growth. A significant milestone was achieved in 2016 with the acquisition of Lugano-based Swiss private bank BSI, which bolstered EFG’s market position and transformed its standing in Banca privada suiza.
The firm manages CHF 142.2 billion in assets as of 2023, underscoring its financial strength and global reach.
