This week I speak about the one of the most ironic news stories I have seen in the last few years.<\/p>\n
The story is about a lady who posted a controversial Twitter post where she demanded that only men earning $500,000 a year should respond to her add.<\/p>\n
The response was brutal – “Your looks will fade and my money will likely continue into perpetuity … in fact, it is very likely that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won\u2019t be getting any more beautiful!\u201d the banker wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning asset,\u201d he said. \u201cLet me explain, you\u2019re 25 now and will likely stay pretty hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t make good business sense to \u201cbuy you\u201d (which is what you\u2019re asking) so I\u2019d rather lease,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
However, I have seen many wealthy people (or should I say formerly wealthy people in some cases) fall for this “deal”.<\/p>\n
So in today’s post I speak about this story, and the numerous cases I have seen in the expat market, of men accepting silly demands from girlfriends, partners and wives.<\/p>\n
