Last year, a few of my clients asked me to find providers whereby they could lend against their portfolio assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That meant if they had a million dollars, Euros or Pounds in their investment accounts, they could get a loan worth $600,000-$700,000 against that money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I approached many providers I knew, including one gentleman who was introduced to me as a trustworthy debt advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had a first conversation with him, and everything seemed good after he sent me some details and offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was until I realized that the name of the bank or lender wasn’t on the offers. I asked him why, and he responded that my clients and I might go to the bank directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t deny that some sleazy people will try to get things for free and then execute themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, I asked him how he could expect any of my clients to go ahead if we didn’t know the names of the lenders in question, and besides, the value of a trusted advisor goes beyond transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surely, the value is also in asking him technical questions, which he, as an independent third-party who deals with countless providers, will be more objective in answering than asking the same question directly to the bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
