What Is Financial Planning? The Meaning and Definition

Financial planning in the context of an individual as opposed to an organization is the process of strategizing a methodology of how, when and where to invest one’s own money.

This includes methods of researching investment options or potentially using a financial advisor to help with the process, and then deciding how much of and how often one should invest their money.

Financial planning can be considered a short hold form of personal financial planning in the context of the individual although it can also be used to discuss the financial planning of a company, group of individuals or a non-government organization (NGO).
