In other words, something that has the potential to go up when stocks go down.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many others as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hedge funds, private equity and physical assets aren\u2019t usually utilized for income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Private debt is a good alternative form of income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like anything, consider carefully how much risk you want to take and much more liquidity you need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If something isn\u2019t easy to sell, that comes with its own negatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:29px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/How-do-I-start-a-small-business-in-another-country\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do I start a small business in another country?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It depends on the industry and country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In some countries, like the UK and US, you can set up a business online and get banking as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s say you want to start an Delaware LLC, and aim to sell all around the world online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can simple Google incorporation companies, and make sure you produce all the documents for that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawyers and accountants are also easy to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t need to physically move to the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same is true in the UK and many offshore centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In comparison, if you want to sell a physical good to the local market, you might need to go to that country, live there for a while in some cases and set up the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In some countries, it is impossible to set up businesses unless the owner lives locally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:29px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/How-lucrative-is-stamp-collecting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How lucrative is stamp collecting?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, I heard from a friend 1\u20132 days ago who posted on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He just used a stamp he bought 15\/20 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The price has more than doubled in that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet demand for stamps isn\u2019t going up in most countries, as we send fewer letters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/qph.cf2.quoracdn.net\/main-qimg-be4c01721c840fa18eaeb005e72f1371\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>What is more, that 200% increase in the price of stamps is only 5% or so per year compounded , so it isn\u2019t that lucrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It isn\u2019t just stamps either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collectables in general aren\u2019t as profitable as many other investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They don\u2019t pay a yield or dividend, and don\u2019t appreciate as much as innovative company stocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless, his story shows a wider point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whenever we buy the latest gadgets such as a phone or flash bag, we are just paying people who hold shares in the company with interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is better in the last decade? Holding Apple shares or buying Apple products?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buying future inflation by collecting stamps or only focus on consumerism?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer is obvious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That doesn\u2019t mean we shouldn\u2019t ever be consumers, or should collect stamps, but more that we should \u2018know the game\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Better to buy unnecessary luxury items with passive income generated from assets, than just buying them from a paycheque (earned income).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:29px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/Are-commodities-the-best-investments-in-times-of-recession\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are commodities the best investments in times of recession?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most industrial commodities are linked to supply and demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do we, collectively, fly more during a recession?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do we use hotels more?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How about going to bars or cafes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, we do things like that less in a recession as a collective, even if some individuals might increase consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, oil and other industrial commodities tend to fall dramatically during a recession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We saw that in 2008\u20132009. The commodity super cycle ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is interesting is gold and metals also fell:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/qph.cf2.quoracdn.net\/main-qimg-79bc4e3998da9b50a6bd10d5ce32106b\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gold\u2019s 8\u20139 year bull run was ended in 2008\u20132009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both industrial commodities and gold only increased again in 2010 and 2011, once the global recession ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We saw something similar in 2020. Brexit will affect prices that much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is true that London house prices have risen a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many parts of the UK haven\u2019t recovered, adjusted for inflation, from 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As this graph shows, adjusted for constant prices, it is only London that has continued to see rising real-terms prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/qph.cf2.quoracdn.net\/main-qimg-ffd5b8512c5abed51473cb8acb938a8a\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It is true that London benefitted from being a hub to the European market, much as Singapore is for ASEAN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, London is like an equivalent of a New York in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It still has a draw for wealthy people, and that demand pushed up prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That draw still exists for some despite Brexit and the small exodus we have seen recently, driven by Russians and some others leaving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/qph.cf2.quoracdn.net\/main-qimg-83aeade64ebbb52f933500c1f19eadf4-lq\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It is too early to say whether house prices will fall consistently though, just because they are likely to in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If prices do consistently fall adjusted for inflation, it is more likely due to a combination of reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those reasons could be a combination of Brexit, higher taxes on the wealthy and the small but steady increase in wealthy people leaving the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brexit certainly won\u2019t help increase prices though!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Siete afflitti dall'indecisione finanziaria?
